The Event

Micky was a remarkable spirit, known for his positive energy and infectious enthusiasm. His love for water skiing was evident, specifically when he was flipping on his trick ski, or soaring through the air in jump. His celebrations were unmistakable, you could hear them from anywhere with screams, fist pumps, and hops of joy after landing a new trick or a big jump!

In honour of Micky, we are thrilled to invite you to a special 3-event memorial tournament. This event is not just for seasoned 3-eventers; it’s for anyone wanting to embrace the spirit of adventure. We encourage all competitors to participate in all three events, regardless of their experience level.

Here’s how you can participate:

Slalom: Compete for a score in traditional slalom, buoys or no buoys!
Jump: For scores, take a leisurely ride on jump skis or let us teach you if you’re new.
Trick: For scores, enjoy a simple down and back doing whatever you can or even just have fun on the boom.

* This is essentially a 3-Event Learn to Compete format

Our aim is simple, PARTICIPATION. We want everyone to step out of their comfort zones and channel Micky’s fearless enthusiasm for trying something new. This day is about honouring Micky’s legacy by filling it with the same excitement and passion he shared with all of us.

Set aside pride and join us for a day of fun, challenge, and community, all in tribute to a skier who lived his life at full throttle. Let’s send it for Micky!

Schedule Notes:

Slalom will start at 8am on Saturday June 22, 2024.  At McClintock’s Water Ski School.  Slalom running order will start with most the Officials followed by GU10, BU10, GU12, BU12, etc.

Jump will follow jump and the running order will be organized based on ability:

  • Group 1 = Tournament Jumpers (jump in a tournaments throughout the year)
  • Group 2 = Have jumped but don’t really anymore, going to hit the ramp though!
  • Group 3 = Have never jumped but going to learn and go over!
  • Group 4 = Only riding the skis, not going over.

Trick will follow jump group 4 and the running order will be organized based on ability:

  • Group 1 = Tournament Tricker (trick in tournaments throughout the year)
  • Group 2 = Can trick but not actively competing anymore
  • Group 3 = Struggle with getting up on a trick ski OR have never tricked before

Practice Schedule:

You can book practice sets through McClintock’s.  There is no practice rate, just normal pricing, you can book as per usual on bsport or follow the link to book: Book a Lesson.

Food:
We will do hamburgers and hot dogs at the dock for lunch and will order pizza for dinner.

Participation PRIZE:
There will be a prize for ALL PARTICIPANTS that LAND A JUMP.

After Party:
After the event we will either enjoy some good times at the dock or shift back to Jaime and Jason's house to keep the good times rolling! Plan to stay as long as you would like!
Additional Rules:

Everyone is encouraged to participate in all 3 events to whatever capacity they are willing. All entry fees include 3 events and the point is fun and participation. Send like Micky would have, let's make him proud!
