Lake Crichton is New Zealand’s first purpose built tournament water ski site situated at Dunsandel, 35mins south of Christchurch. The lake was built on the Wright family’s farmland in 1995 with a second lake added in 2009.
Over the past 22 years Lake Crichton has hosted the Asian Australasian Championships, two New Zealand vs Australia Junior Championships, 5 New Zealand National Championships, two New Zealand Wakeboard Championships and 95% of all Canterbury Regional Tournaments.
It has also hosted 6 professional tournaments that have attracted some of the world’s top athletes. In 1997 and 1998 Lake Crichton hosted the Dragon Boat Festival which attracted crowds in excess of 10,000 people.
The Lake Crichton site is the proud holder of two New Zealand Men’s All Comers records.
